Deuteronomy 18:15-22

A New Prophet like Moses

15 a“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen 16just as you desired of the Lord your God at Horeb bon the day of the assembly, when you said, c‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’ 17And the Lord said to me, d‘They are right in what they have spoken. 18 eI will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. fAnd I will put my words in his mouth, and ghe shall speak to them all that I command him. 19 hAnd whoever will inot listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him. 20 jBut the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or
Or and
who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’
21And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— 22 lwhen a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; mthe prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.

Deuteronomy 29:15-20

15but with whoever is standing here with us today before the Lord our God, nand with whoever is not here with us today.

16You know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed. 17And you have seen their detestable things, their idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold, which were among them. 18Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the Lord our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you oa root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit, 19one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike. 20The Lord will not be willing to forgive him, but rather pthe anger of the Lord and qhis jealousy will smoke against that man, and the curses written in this book will settle upon him, and the Lord rwill blot out his name from under heaven.

Isaiah 1:20
