Jeremiah 49:1-6

Judgment on Ammon

1 ^cConcerning the Ammonites.

Thus says the Lord:

“Has Israel no sons?
Has he no heir?
Why then has ^dMilcom ^edispossessed Gad,
and his people settled in its cities?
2 Therefore, behold, the days are coming,
declares the Lord,
when I will cause ^fthe battle cry to be heard
against ^gRabbah of the Ammonites;
it shall become a desolate ^hmound,
and its villages shall be burned with fire;
then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him,
says the Lord.
3 “Wail, O ⁱHeshbon, for Ai is laid waste!
Cry out, O daughters of ^jRabbah!
^kPut on sackcloth,
lament, and run to and fro among the hedges!
For ^lMilcom shall go into exile,
^mwith his priests and his officials.
4 Why do you boast of your valleys, ^{▼▼Hebrew boast of your valleys, your valley flows}
^oO faithless daughter,
^pwho trusted in her treasures, saying,
‘Who will come against me?’
5 Behold, ^qI will bring terror upon you,
declares the Lord God of hosts,
from all who are around you,
and you shall be driven out, every man straight before him,
with none to gather the fugitives.
6 “But ^rafterward I will restore the fortunes of the Ammonites, declares the Lord.”

Ezekiel 25:2-7

2 ^s“Son of man, ^tset your face toward ^uthe Ammonites and prophesy against them. 3 Say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord God: ^vThus says the Lord God, Because you said, ^w‘Aha!’ over my ^xsanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when they went into exile, 4 therefore behold, I am handing you over to ^ythe people of the East for a possession, and they shall set their encampments among you and make their dwellings in your midst. They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. 5 I will make ^zRabbah a ^aapasture for camels and Ammon ^{▼▼Hebrew and the Ammonites} ^aca fold for flocks. ^adThen you will know that I am the Lord. 6 For thus says the Lord God: Because ^aeyou have clapped your hands ^afand stamped your feet and ^agrejoiced with all the ^ahmalice within your soul against the land of Israel, 7 therefore, behold, ^aiI have stretched out my hand against you, and ^ajwill hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Zephaniah 2:8

8 “I have heard ^akthe taunts of Moab
and ^althe revilings of the Ammonites,
how they have taunted my people
and made boasts ^amagainst their territory.
