Deuteronomy 20:1-4
Laws Concerning Warfare
1“When you go out to war against your enemies, and see ahorses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is bwith you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 2And when you draw near to the battle, cthe priest shall come forward and speak to the people 3and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, 4for the Lord your God is he who goes with you dto fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’Deuteronomy 31:3-6
3The Lord your God ehimself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, so that you shall dispossess them, and Joshua will go over at your head, fas the Lord has spoken. 4And the Lord will do to them gas he did to Sihon hand Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when he destroyed them. 5And the Lord will give them over to you, and you shall do to them iaccording to the whole commandment that I have commanded you. 6 jBe strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, kfor it is the Lord your God who goes with you. lHe will not leave you or forsake you.”Joshua 1:2-5
2“Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. 3 mEvery place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. 4 nFrom the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory. 5 oNo man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life.
