Deuteronomy 23:2-3

2 a“No one born of a forbidden union may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord.

3 bNo Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of them may enter the assembly of the Lord forever,

Deuteronomy 23:8

8Children born to them in the third generation may enter the assembly of the Lord.

Nehemiah’s Final Reforms

1On that day cthey read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written dthat no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God, 2for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them—yet our God turned the curse into a blessing. 3As soon as the people heard the law, ethey separated from Israel all fthose of foreign descent.

Lamentations 1:10
