Deuteronomy 28:49-68

49 aThe Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, bswooping down like the eagle, a nation cwhose language you do not understand, 50a hard-faced nation dwho shall not respect the old or show mercy to the young. 51It shall eeat the offspring of your cattle and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed; it also shall not leave you grain, wine, or oil, the increase of your herds or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish.

52“They shall fbesiege you in all your towns, until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout all your land. And they shall besiege you in all your towns throughout all your land, which the Lord your God has given you. 53And gyou shall eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom the Lord your God has given you, hin the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you. 54The man who is the most tender and refined among you will ibegrudge food to his brother, to jthe wife he embraces,
Hebrew  the wife of his bosom
and to the last of the children whom he has left,
55so that he will not give to any of them any of the flesh of his children whom he is eating, because he has nothing else left, lin the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in all your towns. 56 mThe most tender and refined woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because she is so delicate and tender, will begrudge to the husband she embraces,
Hebrew  the husband of her bosom
to her son and to her daughter,
57her afterbirth that comes out from between her feet and her children whom she bears, because lacking everything she will eat them secretly, oin the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in your towns.

58If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, pthe Lord your God, 59then the Lord will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting. 60And he will bring upon you again all qthe diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61Every sickness also and every affliction that is not recorded in the book of this law, the Lord will bring upon you, until you are destroyed. 62Whereas ryou were as numerous sas the stars of heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God. 63And as the Lord ttook delight in doing you good and multiplying you, so the Lord will utake delight in bringing ruin upon you and destroying you. And you shall be plucked off the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

64“And the Lord vwill scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and wthere you shall serve other gods xof wood and stone, ywhich neither you nor your fathers have known. 65And zamong these nations you shall find no respite, and there shall be no resting place for the sole of your foot, but aathe Lord will give you there a trembling heart and failing eyes and aba languishing soul. 66Your life shall hang in doubt before you. Night and day you shall be in dread and have no assurance of your life. 67 acIn the morning you shall say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and at evening you shall say, ‘If only it were morning!’ because of the dread that your heart shall feel, and adthe sights that your eyes shall see. 68And the Lord aewill bring you back in ships to Egypt, a journey that I promised that afyou should never make again; and there you shall offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.”

Isaiah 65:12-15

12I will destine you to the sword,
and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter,
agbecause, when I called, you did not answer;
when I spoke, you did not listen,
ahbut you did what was evil in my eyes
and chose what I did not delight in.”
13 Therefore thus says the Lord God:
Behold, aimy servants shall eat,
but you shall be hungry;
behold, my servants shall drink,
but you shall be thirsty;
behold, my servants shall rejoice,
but you shall be put to shame;
14behold, ajmy servants shall sing for gladness of heart,
but you shall cry out for pain of heart
and shall wail for breaking of spirit.
15You shall leave your name to akmy chosen alfor a curse,
and the Lord God will put you to death,
but his servants amhe will call by another name,

Isaiah 66:4-6

4 anI also will choose harsh treatment for them
and bring aotheir fears upon them,
apbecause when I called, no one answered,
when I spoke, they did not listen;
aqbut they did what was evil in my eyes
and chose that in which I did not delight.”
5 Hear the word of the Lord,
you who tremble at his word:
“Your brothers who hate you
and cast you out for my name’s sake
have said, ar‘Let the Lord be glorified,
that we may see your joy’;
but it is they who shall be put to shame.
6 “The sound of an uproar from the city!
A sound from the temple!
The sound of the Lord,
asrendering recompense to his enemies!

24“And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For attheir worm shall not die, autheir fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Ezekiel 5:2-4

2 avA third part you shall burn in the fire awin the midst of the city, axwhen the days of the siege are completed. And a third part you shall take and strike with the sword all around the city. ayAnd a third part you shall scatter to the wind, and azI will unsheathe the sword after them. 3 baAnd you shall take from these a small number and bind them in the skirts of your robe. 4 bbAnd of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

Ezekiel 5:12

12 bcA third part of you shall die of pestilence and be consumed with famine in your midst; bda third part shall fall by the sword all around you; beand a third part I will scatter to all the winds and will unsheathe the sword after them.

Daniel 9:27

27And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week,
Or seven; twice in this verse
and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. bgAnd on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until bhthe decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

Zechariah 11:6-9

6For biI will no longer have pity on the inhabitants of this land, declares the Lord. Behold, I will cause each of them to fall into the hand of his neighbor, and each into the hand of his king, and they shall crush the land, and I will deliver none from their hand.”

7 bjSo I became the shepherd of the flock doomed to be slaughtered by the sheep traders. And I took two staffs, one I named bkFavor, the other I named blUnion. bmAnd I tended the sheep. 8In one month bnI destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me. 9So I said, “I will not be your shepherd. boWhat is to die, let it die. What is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed. And let those who are left devour the flesh of one another.”
