Deuteronomy 28:62-64

62 Whereas ^ayou were as numerous ^bas the stars of heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God. 63 And as the Lord ^ctook delight in doing you good and multiplying you, so the Lord will ^dtake delight in bringing ruin upon you and destroying you. And you shall be plucked off the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

64 “And the Lord ^ewill scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and ^fthere you shall serve other gods ^gof wood and stone, ^hwhich neither you nor your fathers have known.

Nehemiah 1:3

3 And they said to me, “The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and ⁱshame. ^jThe wall of Jerusalem is broken down, ^kand its gates are destroyed by fire.”

Nehemiah 1:8-9

8 Remember the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, ^lI will scatter you among the peoples, 9 ^mbut if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, ⁿthough your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there I will gather them and bring them ^oto the place that I have chosen, to make my name dwell there.’
