Deuteronomy 29:18

18Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the Lord our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you aa root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit,

Isaiah 1:23

23Your princes are rebels
and companions of thieves.
Everyone bloves a bribe
and runs after gifts.
cThey do not bring justice to the fatherless,
and the widow’s cause does not come to them.

for righteousness,
but behold, an outcry!

1Woe to those who gdecree iniquitous decrees,
and the writers who hkeep writing oppression,

Isaiah 59:13-14

13transgressing, and denying the Lord,
and turning back from following our God,
ispeaking oppression and revolt,
conceiving and uttering from the heart lying words.

Judgment and Redemption

14 jJustice is turned back,
and righteousness stands far away;
for truth has stumbled in the public squares,
and uprightness cannot enter.

Hosea 10:4

4They utter kmere words;
with empty oaths they make covenants;
so ljudgment springs up like poisonous weeds
min the furrows of the field.

Amos 5:11-12

11Therefore because you ntrample on
Or  you tax
the poor
and you exact taxes of grain from him,
pyou have built houses of hewn stone,
but you shall not dwell in them;
qyou have planted pleasant vineyards,
but you shall not drink their wine.
12For I know how many are your transgressions
and how great are your sins
you who afflict the righteous, who rtake a bribe,
and sturn aside the needy tin the gate.

Amos 6:12

12Do horses run on rocks?
Does one plow there
Or the sea
with oxen?
vBut you have turned justice into wpoison
xand the fruit of righteousness into wormwood
Or  into bitter fruit
