Deuteronomy 29:19-21

19one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike. 20The Lord will not be willing to forgive him, but rather athe anger of the Lord and bhis jealousy will smoke against that man, and the curses written in this book will settle upon him, and the Lord cwill blot out his name from under heaven. 21And the Lord will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for calamity, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.

Hosea 12:8

8Ephraim has said, “Ah, but dI am rich;
I have found wealth for myself;
in all my labors ethey cannot find in me iniquity or sin.”

1 Timothy 6:5-10

5and constant friction among people fwho are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, gimagining that godliness is a means of gain. 6But hgodliness iwith contentment is great gain, 7for jwe brought nothing into the world, and

8But lif we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9But mthose who desire to be rich fall into temptation, ninto a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that oplunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of pall kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
