Deuteronomy 29:19-28

19one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike. 20The Lord will not be willing to forgive him, but rather athe anger of the Lord and bhis jealousy will smoke against that man, and the curses written in this book will settle upon him, and the Lord cwill blot out his name from under heaven. 21And the Lord will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for calamity, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law. 22And the next generation, your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, dwill say, when they see the afflictions of that land and the sicknesses with which the Lord has made it sick 23the whole land burned out with brimstone and esalt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, fan overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, gAdmah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and wrath 24all the nations hwill say, iWhy has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them. 27Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, jbringing upon it all the curses written in this book, 28and the Lord kuprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and lcast them into another land, as they are this day.’

Deuteronomy 31:20-21

20For when I have brought them into the land mflowing with milk and honey, which I swore to give to their fathers, and they have eaten and are full and ngrown fat, othey will turn to other gods and serve them, and pdespise me and qbreak my covenant. 21And when many evils and troubles have come upon them, this song shall confront them as ra witness (for it will live unforgotten in the mouths of their offspring). For sI know what they are inclined to do even today, before I have brought them into the land that I swore to give.”

Deuteronomy 32:16-42

16 tThey stirred him to jealousy with strange gods;
with abominations they provoked him to anger.
17 uThey sacrificed to demons that were no gods,
to gods they had never known,
to vnew gods that had come recently,
whom your fathers had never dreaded.
18You were unmindful of wthe Rock that bore
Or fathered
you,
and you yforgot the God who gave you birth.
19 z“The Lord saw it and spurned them,
because of the provocation of aahis sons and his daughters.
20And he said, ab‘I will hide my face from them;
I will see what their end will be,
for they are a perverse generation,
children in whom is no faithfulness.
21 acThey have made me jealous with what is no god;
they have provoked me to anger adwith their idols.
So aeI will make them jealous with those who are no people;
I will provoke them to anger with afa foolish nation.
22For aga fire is kindled by my anger,
and it burns to ahthe depths of Sheol,
devours the earth and its increase,
and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 “‘And I will heap disasters upon them;
aiI will spend my arrows on them;
24they shall be wasted with hunger,
and devoured by plague
and poisonous pestilence;
I will send ajthe teeth of beasts against them,
with the venom of akthings that crawl in the dust.
25 alOutdoors the sword shall bereave,
and indoors terror,
for young man and woman alike,
the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.
26 amI would have said, “I will cut them to pieces;
anI will wipe them from human memory,”
27had I not feared provocation by the enemy,
lest their adversaries should misunderstand,
lest they should say, ao“Our hand is triumphant,
it was not the Lord who did all this.”’
28 For they are a nation void of counsel,
and there is apno understanding in them.
29 aqIf they were wise, they would understand this;
they would ardiscern their latter end!
30How could asone have chased a thousand,
and two have put ten thousand to flight,
unless their Rock athad sold them,
and the Lord had given them up?
31For autheir rock is not as our Rock;
avour enemies are by themselves.
32For their vine awcomes from the vine of Sodom
and from the fields of Gomorrah;
their grapes are grapes of axpoison;
their clusters are bitter;
33their wine is the poison of ayserpents
and the cruel venom of asps.
34 “‘Is not this laid up in store with me,
azsealed up in my treasuries?
35 baVengeance is mine, and recompense,
Septuagint  and I will repay

bcfor the time when their foot shall slip;
for bdthe day of their calamity is at hand,
and their doom comes swiftly.’
36For bethe Lord will vindicate
Septuagint judge
his people
bgand have compassion on his servants,
when he sees that their power is gone
and there is none remaining, bhbond or free.
37Then he will say, biWhere are their gods,
bjthe rock in which they took refuge,
38who ate the fat of their sacrifices
and drank the wine of their drink offering?
Let them rise up and help you;
let them be your protection!
39 “‘See now that bkI, even I, am he,
and there is no god beside me;
blI kill and I make alive;
bmI wound and I heal;
and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.
40For bnI lift up my hand to heaven
and swear, As I live forever,
41if I bosharpen my flashing sword
Hebrew the lightning of my sword

and my hand takes hold on judgment,
I will take vengeance on my adversaries
and will repay those who hate me.
42I will make my arrows drunk with blood,
and bqmy sword shall devour flesh
with the blood of the slain and the captives,
from the brlong-haired heads of the enemy.’

Joshua 23:15-16

15But just as all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you have been fulfilled for you, so the Lord will bring upon you bsall the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land that the Lord your God has given you, 16if you transgress the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them. Then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land that he has given to you.”

Micah 3:12

12Therefore because of you
btZion shall be plowed as a field;
Jerusalem bushall become a heap of ruins,
and bvthe mountain of the house bwa wooded height.
