Deuteronomy 29:21-28

21And the Lord will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for calamity, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law. 22And the next generation, your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, awill say, when they see the afflictions of that land and the sicknesses with which the Lord has made it sick 23the whole land burned out with brimstone and bsalt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, can overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, dAdmah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and wrath 24all the nations ewill say, fWhy has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them. 27Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, gbringing upon it all the curses written in this book, 28and the Lord huprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and icast them into another land, as they are this day.’

1 Kings 9:7-8

7 jthen I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, kand the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight, land Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 8And this house will become a heap of ruins.
Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew  will become high
Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, nWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’

2 Chronicles 7:19-22

19 o“But if you
The Hebrew for  you is plural here
turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,
20 qthen I will pluck you
Hebrew them; twice in this verse
up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it sa proverb and a byword among all peoples.
21And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, tWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’”

2 Chronicles 29:8

8Therefore uthe wrath of the Lord came on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has made them van object of horror, of astonishment, wand of hissing, as you see with your own eyes.

Jeremiah 19:8

8And I will make this city xa horror, ya thing to be hissed at. Everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its wounds.

Jeremiah 25:9

9 zbehold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, declares the Lord, and for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, aamy servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations. I will devote them to destruction, aband make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting desolation.

Jeremiah 26:6

6then I will make this house aclike Shiloh, and I will make this city ada curse for all the nations of the earth.’”

Jeremiah 29:22

22 aeBecause of them afthis curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: “The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, agwhom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,”

Jeremiah 42:18

18For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ahAs my anger and my wrath were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. aiYou shall become an execration, a horror, a curse, and a taunt. You shall see this place no more.
