Deuteronomy 29:23-25

23the whole land burned out with brimstone and asalt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, ban overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, cAdmah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and wrath 24all the nations dwill say, eWhy has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,

1 Kings 9:8-9

8And this house will become a heap of ruins.
Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew  will become high
Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, gWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
9Then they will say, ‘Because hthey abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’”

2 Chronicles 7:20-22

20 ithen I will pluck you
Hebrew them; twice in this verse
up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it ka proverb and a byword among all peoples.
21And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, lWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’”

Lamentations 2:15-17

15 All who pass along the way
clap their hands at you;
mthey hiss and wag their heads
at the daughter of Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called
nthe perfection of beauty,
othe joy of all the earth?”
16 pAll your enemies
rail against you;
they hiss, they gnash their teeth,
they cry: “We qhave swallowed her!
Ah, this is the day we longed for;
now we have it; rwe see it!”
17 The Lord has done what he purposed;
he has carried out shis word,
which he commanded tlong ago;
uhe has thrown down vwithout pity;
whe has made the enemy rejoice over you
and exalted the xmight of your foes.

Lamentations 4:12

12 yThe kings of the earth did not believe,
nor any of the inhabitants of the world,
that foe or enemy could enter
the gates of Jerusalem.

Daniel 9:7

7To you, zO Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, aathose who are near and abthose who are far away, in acall the lands to which you have driven them, because of adthe treachery that they have committed against you.
