Deuteronomy 29:23-25

23 the whole land burned out with brimstone and ^asalt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, ^ban overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, ^cAdmah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and wrath— 24 all the nations ^dwill say, ^e‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25 Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,

1 Kings 9:8-9

8 And this house will become a heap of ruins. ^{▼▼Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew will become high} Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, ^g‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 9 Then they will say, ‘Because ^hthey abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’”

2 Chronicles 7:20-22
