Deuteronomy 29:23-28

23the whole land burned out with brimstone and asalt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, ban overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, cAdmah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and wrath 24all the nations dwill say, eWhy has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them. 27Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, fbringing upon it all the curses written in this book, 28and the Lord guprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and hcast them into another land, as they are this day.’

Psalms 76:7

9The Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing:
lSurely many houses shall be desolate,
large and beautiful houses, without inhabitant.
10 mFor ten acres
Hebrew  ten yoke, the area ten yoke of oxen can plow in a day
of vineyard shall yield but one bath,
and a ohomer of seed shall yield but an ephah.”

Isaiah 7:20-25

20In that day qthe Lord will rshave with a razor that is shired beyond tthe River—with the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

21 uIn that day a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep, 22and because of the abundance of milk that they give, he will eat curds, for everyone who is left in the land will eat vcurds and honey.

23In that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand shekels
A  shekel was about 2/5 ounce or 11 grams
of silver, will become xbriers and thorns.
24 yWith bow and arrows a man will come there, for all the land will be briers and thorns. 25 zAnd as for all the hills that used to be hoed with a hoe, you will not come there for fear aaof briers and thorns, but they will become a place where cattle are let loose and where sheep tread.

Jeremiah 12:4

and the grass of every field wither?
acFor the evil of those who dwell in it
adthe beasts and the birds are swept away,
because they said, “He will not see our latter end.”

Jeremiah 14:2-6

2 aeJudah mourns,
and afher gates languish;
her people lament on the ground,
and agthe cry of Jerusalem goes up.
3Her nobles send their servants for water;
they come to the cisterns;
they find no water;
they return with their vessels empty;
they are ahashamed and confounded
and aicover their heads.
4Because of the ground that is dismayed,
since there is ajno rain on the land,
the farmers are ashamed;
they cover their heads.
5Even akthe doe in the field forsakes her newborn fawn
because there is no grass.
6 alThe wild donkeys stand on the bare heights;
they pant for air like jackals;
their eyes fail
because there is no vegetation.
