Deuteronomy 29:24-28

24all the nations awill say, bWhy has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them. 27Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, cbringing upon it all the curses written in this book, 28and the Lord duprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and ecast them into another land, as they are this day.’

1 Kings 9:8-9

8And this house will become a heap of ruins.
Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew  will become high
Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, gWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
9Then they will say, ‘Because hthey abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’”

Jeremiah 5:19

19And when your people say, iWhy has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ you shall say to them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, jso you shall serve foreigners in a land that is not yours.’”

Jeremiah 13:22

22And if you say in your heart,
kWhy have these things come upon me?’
it is for the greatness of your iniquity
that lyour skirts are lifted up
and you suffer violence.

Jeremiah 16:10-12

10“And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, mWhy has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’ 11then you shall say to them: nBecause your fathers have forsaken me, declares the Lord, and ohave gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, 12and because pyou have done worse than your fathers, for behold, qevery one of you follows his stubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me.

Jeremiah 22:8-9

8“‘And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, rWhy has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?” 9 sAnd they will answer, “Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and worshiped other gods and served them.”’”

Jeremiah 22:28

28 Is this man tConiah a despised, broken pot,
a uvessel no one cares for?
Why are he and his children hurled and cast
into a vland that they do not know?
