Deuteronomy 29:25-28

25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them. 27Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, abringing upon it all the curses written in this book, 28and the Lord buprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and ccast them into another land, as they are this day.’

2 Chronicles 7:22

22Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’”

Jeremiah 2:10-13

10For cross to the coasts of dCyprus and see,
or send to eKedar and examine with care;
see if there has been such a thing.
11 fHas a nation changed its gods,
geven though they are no gods?
But my people hhave changed their glory
for ithat which does not profit.
12Be appalled, jO heavens, at this;
be shocked, be utterly desolate,

declares the Lord,
13for my people have committed two evils:
kthey have forsaken lme,
the fountain of mliving waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Jeremiah 2:19

19 nYour evil will chastise you,
and oyour apostasy will reprove you.
Know and see that it is evil and pbitter
for qyou to forsake the Lord your God;
the fear of me is not in you,

declares the Lord God of hosts.

Jeremiah 5:19

19And when your people say, rWhy has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ you shall say to them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, sso you shall serve foreigners in a land that is not yours.’”

Jeremiah 16:10-13

10“And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, tWhy has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’ 11then you shall say to them: uBecause your fathers have forsaken me, declares the Lord, and vhave gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, 12and because wyou have done worse than your fathers, for behold, xevery one of you follows his stubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me. 13Therefore yI will hurl you out of this land into za land that neither you nor your fathers have known, aaand there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’

Jeremiah 50:7

7All who found them have devoured them, aband their enemies have said, ‘We are not guilty, for acthey have sinned against the Lord, adtheir habitation of righteousness, the Lord, aethe hope of their fathers.’
