12“When we took possession of this land at that time, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory beginning gat Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with hits cities. 13 iThe rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, jall the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All that portion of Bashan is called the land of kRephaim. 14 lJair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of mthe Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages nafter his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.) 15To Machir oI gave Gilead, 16and to the Reubenites pand the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Valley of the Arnon, with the middle of the valley as a border, as far over as the river Jabbok, qthe border of the Ammonites; 17the Arabah also, with the Jordan as the border, from rChinnereth as far as sthe Sea of the Arabah, tthe Salt Sea, under uthe slopes of Pisgah on the east.

The Inheritance East of the Jordan

8With the other half of the tribe of Manasseh
Hebrew  With it
the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, wwhich Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the Lord gave them:
9 xfrom Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and yall the tableland of Medeba as far as Dibon; 10 zand all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the boundary of the Ammonites; 11and Gilead, and the aaregion of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and aball Bashan to Salecah; 12 acall the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (he alone was left of adthe remnant of the Rephaim); aethese Moses had struck and driven out. 13 afYet the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites, but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel to this day.

14 agTo the tribe of Levi alone Moses gave no inheritance. The offerings by fire to the Lord God of Israel are their inheritance, as he said to him.

15And Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of the people of Reuben according to their clans. 16So their territory was from Aroer, ahwhich is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland by aiMedeba; 17with Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the tableland; ajDibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon, 18 akand Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath, 19and alKiriathaim, and amSibmah, and Zereth-shahar on the hill of the valley, 20and anBeth-peor, and aothe slopes of Pisgah, and apBeth-jeshimoth, 21that is, aqall the cities of the tableland, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, arwhom Moses defeated with asthe leaders of Midian, Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who lived in the land. 22 atBalaam also, the son of Beor, the one who practiced divination, was killed with the sword by the people of Israel among the rest of their slain. 23And the border of the people of Reuben was the Jordan as a boundary. This was the inheritance of the people of Reuben, according to their clans with their cities and villages.

24Moses gave an inheritance also to the tribe of Gad, to the people of Gad, according to their clans. 25 auTheir territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites, to Aroer, which is east of avRabbah, 26and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from awMahanaim to the territory of Debir,
Septuagint, Syriac, Vulgate; Hebrew Lidebir
27and in the valley Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, aySuccoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, having the Jordan as a boundary, to the lower end of the Sea of azChinnereth, eastward beyond the Jordan. 28This is the inheritance of the people of Gad according to their clans, with their cities and villages.

29And Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh. It was allotted to the half-tribe of the people of Manasseh according to their clans. 30Their region extended from baMahanaim, through all Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all bbthe towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities, 31and half Gilead, and bcAshtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. These were allotted to the people of bdMachir the son of Manasseh for the half of the people of Machir according to their clans.

32These are the inheritances that Moses distributed bein the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.

Scripture Must Be Fulfilled in Jesus

35And he said to them, btWhen I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36He said to them, But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. 37For I tell you that buthis Scripture must be fulfilled in me: bvAnd he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For bwwhat is written about me has its fulfillment.” 38And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two bxswords.” And he said to them, by“It is enough.”
