Laws Concerning Warfare

1“When you go out to war against your enemies, and see bhorses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is cwith you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 2And when you draw near to the battle, dthe priest shall come forward and speak to the people 3and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, 4for the Lord your God is he who goes with you eto fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’

Joshua 1:5-9

5 fNo man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just gas I was with Moses, so hI will be with you. iI will not leave you or forsake you. 6 jBe strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7Only be strong and kvery courageous, being careful to do according to all the law lthat Moses my servant commanded you. mDo not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success

8This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but oyou shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9Have I not commanded you? pBe strong and courageous. qDo not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The Fall of Ai

1And the Lord said to Joshua, r“Do not fear and do not be dismayed. Take all the fighting men with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, sI have given into your hand the king of Ai, and his people, his city, and his land.

Joshua 11:6

6And the Lord said to Joshua, t“Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain, to Israel. You shall uhamstring their horses and burn their vchariots with fire.”

Judges 4:14-15

14And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which wthe Lord has given Sisera into your hand. xDoes not the Lord go out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him. 15 yAnd the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot.
