Deuteronomy 31:16-18

16And the Lord said to Moses, aBehold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise and bwhore after the foreign gods among them in the land that they are entering, and they will cforsake me and dbreak my covenant that I have made with them. 17Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day, and eI will forsake them and fhide my face from them, and they will be devoured. And many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, g‘Have not these evils come upon us because hour God is not among us?’ 18And I will surely hide my face in that day because of all the evil that they have done, because ithey have turned to other gods.

Deuteronomy 31:29

29For I know that after my death jyou will surely act corruptly and turn aside from the way that I have commanded you. And kin the days to come levil will befall you, because you will do what is evil in the sight of the Lord, mprovoking him to anger through the work of your hands.”

Deuteronomy 32:15-27

15 “But nJeshurun grew fat, and okicked;
pyou grew fat, stout, and sleek;
qthen he forsook God rwho made him
and scoffed at sthe Rock of his salvation.
16 tThey stirred him to jealousy with strange gods;
with abominations they provoked him to anger.
17 uThey sacrificed to demons that were no gods,
to gods they had never known,
to vnew gods that had come recently,
whom your fathers had never dreaded.
18You were unmindful of wthe Rock that bore
Or fathered
you,
and you yforgot the God who gave you birth.
19 z“The Lord saw it and spurned them,
because of the provocation of aahis sons and his daughters.
20And he said, ab‘I will hide my face from them;
I will see what their end will be,
for they are a perverse generation,
children in whom is no faithfulness.
21 acThey have made me jealous with what is no god;
they have provoked me to anger adwith their idols.
So aeI will make them jealous with those who are no people;
I will provoke them to anger with afa foolish nation.
22For aga fire is kindled by my anger,
and it burns to ahthe depths of Sheol,
devours the earth and its increase,
and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 “‘And I will heap disasters upon them;
aiI will spend my arrows on them;
24they shall be wasted with hunger,
and devoured by plague
and poisonous pestilence;
I will send ajthe teeth of beasts against them,
with the venom of akthings that crawl in the dust.
25 alOutdoors the sword shall bereave,
and indoors terror,
for young man and woman alike,
the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.
26 amI would have said, “I will cut them to pieces;
anI will wipe them from human memory,”
27had I not feared provocation by the enemy,
lest their adversaries should misunderstand,
lest they should say, ao“Our hand is triumphant,
it was not the Lord who did all this.”’

2 Chronicles 36:14-16

14All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.

15The Lord, the God of their fathers, apsent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 aqBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, ardespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, asuntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

Nehemiah 9:33-34

33 atYet you have been righteous in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully auand we have acted wickedly. 34Our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers have not kept your law or paid attention to your commandments and your warnings that you gave them.

Psalms 90:7-8

7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.
8You have avset our iniquities before you,
our awsecret sins in the light of your presence.
