Deuteronomy 31:16-18
16And the Lord said to Moses, a“Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise and bwhore after the foreign gods among them in the land that they are entering, and they will cforsake me and dbreak my covenant that I have made with them. 17Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day, and eI will forsake them and fhide my face from them, and they will be devoured. And many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, g‘Have not these evils come upon us because hour God is not among us?’ 18And I will surely hide my face in that day because of all the evil that they have done, because ithey have turned to other gods.2 Chronicles 36:14-17
14All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.15The Lord, the God of their fathers, jsent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 kBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, ldespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, muntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

17 nTherefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand.Psalms 78:60
