Deuteronomy 31:27-29

27For I know how rebellious and astubborn you are. Behold, even today while I am yet alive with you, byou have been rebellious against the Lord. How much more after my death! 28Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, that I may speak cthese words in their ears and dcall heaven and earth to witness against them. 29For I know that after my death eyou will surely act corruptly and turn aside from the way that I have commanded you. And fin the days to come gevil will befall you, because you will do what is evil in the sight of the Lord, hprovoking him to anger through the work of your hands.”

Deuteronomy 32:20

20And he said, i‘I will hide my face from them;
I will see what their end will be,
for they are a perverse generation,

Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 Ah, nstubborn children,” declares the Lord,
o“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make pan alliance,
Hebrew  who weave a web
but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;

Jeremiah 44:2-17

2Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: You have seen all the disaster that I brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah. Behold, this day rthey are a desolation, and no one dwells in them, 3because of the evil that they committed, sprovoking me to anger, tin that they went to make offerings uand serve other gods that they knew not, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers. 4 vYet I persistently sent to you all my servants the prophets, saying, ‘Oh, do not do this abomination that I hate!’ 5 wBut they did not listen xor incline their ear, to turn from their evil and make no offerings to other gods. 6 yTherefore my wrath and my anger were poured out and kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, zand they became a waste and a desolation, as at this day. 7And now thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel: Why do you commit this great evil aaagainst yourselves, to cut off from you abman and woman, acinfant and child, from the midst of Judah, leaving you no remnant? 8 adWhy do you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, aemaking offerings to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have come to live, so that you may be cut off and become afa curse and a taunt among all the nations of the earth? 9Have you forgotten the evil of your fathers, agthe evil of the kings of Judah, ahthe evil of their
Hebrew his
wives, your own evil, ajand the evil of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
10They have not humbled themselves even to this day, aknor have they feared, nor walked in my law and my statutes that I set before you and before your fathers.

11Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: alBehold, I will set my face against you for harm, to cut off all Judah. 12I will take the remnant of Judah who have amset their faces to come to the land of Egypt to live, and they shall all be consumed. anIn the land of Egypt they shall fall; by the sword and by famine aothey shall be consumed. apFrom the least to the greatest, they shall die by the sword and by famine, aqand they shall become an oath, a horror, ara curse, and a taunt. 13 asI will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, 14 atso that none of the remnant of Judah who have come to live in the land of Egypt shall escape or survive auor return to the land of Judah, to which they desire to return to dwell there. For they shall not return, avexcept some fugitives.”

15Then all the men who knew that awtheir wives had made offerings to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, all the people who lived in axPathros in the land of Egypt, answered Jeremiah: 16“As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, aywe will not listen to you. 17 azBut we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to bathe queen of heaven bband pour out drink offerings to her, bcas we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster.

Zephaniah 3:2

bdshe accepts no correction.
beShe does not trust in the Lord;
she does not draw near to her God.

Matthew 23:31-33

31Thus you witness against yourselves that you are bfsons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 bgFill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33You serpents, bhyou brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to bihell?
