Deuteronomy 32:15-21

15 “But aJeshurun grew fat, and bkicked;
cyou grew fat, stout, and sleek;
dthen he forsook God ewho made him
and scoffed at fthe Rock of his salvation.
16 gThey stirred him to jealousy with strange gods;
with abominations they provoked him to anger.
17 hThey sacrificed to demons that were no gods,
to gods they had never known,
to inew gods that had come recently,
whom your fathers had never dreaded.
18You were unmindful of jthe Rock that bore
Or fathered
you,
and you lforgot the God who gave you birth.
19 m“The Lord saw it and spurned them,
because of the provocation of nhis sons and his daughters.
20And he said, o‘I will hide my face from them;
I will see what their end will be,
for they are a perverse generation,
children in whom is no faithfulness.
21 pThey have made me jealous with what is no god;
they have provoked me to anger qwith their idols.
So rI will make them jealous with those who are no people;
I will provoke them to anger with sa foolish nation.

2 Kings 17:8-20

8 tand walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel, uand in the customs that the kings of Israel had practiced. 9And the people of Israel did secretly against the Lord their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their towns, vfrom watchtower to fortified city. 10They set up for themselves wpillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree, 11and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger, 12and they served idols, xof which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this.” 13Yet the Lord ywarned Israel and Judah zby every prophet aaand every seer, saying, abTurn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

14But they would not listen, acbut were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God. 15They despised his statutes adand his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after aefalse idols afand became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the agLord had commanded them that they should not do like them. 16And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of ahtwo calves; and they aimade an Asherah and ajworshiped all the host of heaven and served akBaal. 17 alAnd they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings
Or made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire
and used andivination and aoomens and apsold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.
18Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but aqthe tribe of Judah only.

19 arJudah also did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the customs that Israel had introduced. 20And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel and afflicted them asand gave them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

Ezekiel 16:47

47 avNot only did you walk in their ways and do according to their abominations; within a very little time awyou were more corrupt than they in all your ways.

Romans 1:23-25

23and axexchanged the glory of aythe immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24Therefore azGod gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to bathe dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for bba lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, bcwho is blessed forever! Amen.
