Deuteronomy 32:37-38

37Then he will say, aWhere are their gods,
bthe rock in which they took refuge,
38who ate the fat of their sacrifices
and drank the wine of their drink offering?
Let them rise up and help you;
let them be your protection!

Isaiah 28:15

15Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
and with Sheol we have an agreement,
when the coverwhelming whip passes through
it will not come to us,
for we have made dlies our refuge,
and in falsehood we have taken shelter”;

Jeremiah 7:4-8

4 eDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5For if you truly famend your ways and your deeds, if you truly gexecute justice one with another, 6if you hdo not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, ior shed innocent blood in this place, jand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 kthen I will let you dwell in this place, lin the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.

Jeremiah 10:14

14 mEvery man is stupid and without knowledge;
nevery goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
for his images are false,
oand there is no breath in them.

Micah 3:11

11 pIts heads give judgment for a bribe;
qits priests teach for a price;
rits prophets practice divination for money;
syet they lean on the Lord and tsay,
“Is not the Lord in the midst of us?
uNo disaster shall come upon us.”

Habakkuk 2:18-19

18 vWhat profit is an idol
when its maker has shaped it,
a metal image, wa teacher of lies?
For its maker trusts in his own creation
when he makes xspeechless idols!
19 yWoe to him zwho says to a wooden thing, Awake;
to a silent stone, Arise!
Can this teach?
Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver,
and aathere is no breath at all in it.
