Deuteronomy 4:23-27

23 aTake care, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and bmake a carved image, the form of anything that the Lord your God has forbidden you. 24For cthe Lord your God is a consuming fire, da jealous God.

25When you father children and children’s children, and have grown old in the land, eif you act corruptly by making a carved image in the form of anything, and fby doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, so as to provoke him to anger, 26I gcall heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long in it, but will be utterly destroyed. 27And the Lord hwill scatter you among the peoples, iand you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you.

Joshua 23:15-16

15But just as all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you have been fulfilled for you, so the Lord will bring upon you jall the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land that the Lord your God has given you, 16if you transgress the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them. Then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land that he has given to you.”

1 Kings 9:6-7

6 kBut if you turn aside from following me, you or your children, and do not keep my commandments and my statutes that I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, 7 lthen I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, mand the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight, nand Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

1 Kings 11:4-8

4For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and ohis heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, pas was the heart of David his father. 5For Solomon went after qAshtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after rMilcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and did not wholly follow the Lord, as David his father had done. 7Then Solomon built a high place for sChemosh the abomination of Moab, and for tMolech the abomination of the Ammonites, on the mountain east of Jerusalem. 8And so he did for all his foreign wives, who made offerings and sacrificed to their gods.
