Deuteronomy 4:25-31

25When you father children and children’s children, and have grown old in the land, aif you act corruptly by making a carved image in the form of anything, and bby doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, so as to provoke him to anger, 26I ccall heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long in it, but will be utterly destroyed. 27And the Lord dwill scatter you among the peoples, eand you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. 28And fthere you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, gthat neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 hBut from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you iin the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. 31For the Lord your God is ja merciful God. kHe will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.

58If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, cpthe Lord your God, 59then the Lord will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting. 60And he will bring upon you again all cqthe diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61Every sickness also and every affliction that is not recorded in the book of this law, the Lord will bring upon you, until you are destroyed. 62Whereas cryou were as numerous csas the stars of heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God. 63And as the Lord cttook delight in doing you good and multiplying you, so the Lord will cutake delight in bringing ruin upon you and destroying you.
