Deuteronomy 4:28

28And athere you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, bthat neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

Psalms 115:4-8

4 cTheir idols are silver and gold,
dthe work of human hands.
5They have mouths, ebut do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
6They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
7They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
8 fThose who make them become like them;
so do all who trust in them.

Isaiah 37:19

19and have cast their gods into the fire. For they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed.

Isaiah 40:19-20

19 gAn idol! A craftsman casts it,
and a goldsmith overlays it with gold
and casts for it silver chains.
20 hHe who is too impoverished for an offering
chooses wood
Or  He chooses valuable wood
that will not rot;
he seeks out a skillful craftsman
to set up an idol that will not move.

Isaiah 44:9-20

The Folly of Idolatry

9 jAll who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. 10 kWho fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing? 11 lBehold, all his companions shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are only human. Let them all assemble, let them stand forth. They shall be terrified; they shall be put to shame together.

12 mThe ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint. 13The carpenter stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes and marks it with a compass. nHe shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. 14 oHe cuts down cedars, or he chooses a cypress tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it. 15Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it. 16Half of it he burns in the fire. Over the half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. Also he warms himself and says, “Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!” 17And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. pHe prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

18They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an qabomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?” 20 rHe feeds on sashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not ta lie in my right hand?”

Isaiah 46:6-7

6 uThose who lavish gold from the purse,
and weigh out silver in the scales,
hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god;
vthen they fall down and worship!
7 wThey lift it to their shoulders, they carry it,
they set it in its place, and it stands there;
xit cannot move from its place.
If one cries to it, it does not answer
or save him from his trouble.

Jeremiah 10:3-11

3 yfor the customs of the peoples are vanity.
Or vapor, or mist

aaA tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
4 abThey decorate it with silver and gold;
acthey fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
5Their idols
Hebrew They
are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and aethey cannot speak;
afthey have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
agfor they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good.”
6 ahThere is none like you, O Lord;
you are great, and your name is great in might.
7 aiWho would not fear you, O King of the nations?
For this is your due;
for among all the wise ones of the nations
and in all their kingdoms
there is none like you.
8 ajThey are both akstupid and foolish;
the instruction of idols is but wood!
9 alBeaten silver is brought from amTarshish,
and gold from anUphaz.
aoThey are the work of the craftsman and of the hands of the goldsmith;
their clothing is violet and purple;
apthey are all the work of skilled men.
10 aqBut the Lord is the true God;
arhe is the living God and the everlasting King.
At his wrath the earth quakes,
and the nations cannot endure his indignation.
11Thus shall you say to them: as“The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth atshall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.”
