Deuteronomy 4:29-30

29 aBut from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you bin the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice.

Judges 3:9-10

9But when the people of Israel ccried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a ddeliverer for the people of Israel, who saved them, eOthniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. 10 fThe Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.

Judges 10:10-16

10And the people of Israel gcried out to the Lord, saying, “We have sinned against you, because hwe have forsaken our God and have served the Baals.” 11And the Lord said to the people of Israel, “Did I not save you ifrom the Egyptians and jfrom the Amorites, kfrom the Ammonites and lfrom the Philistines? 12The Sidonians also, and mthe Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to me, and I nsaved you out of their hand. 13Yet you have oforsaken me and served other gods; therefore I will save you no more. 14Go and cry out pto the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.” 15And the people of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned; do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please deliver us this day.” 16So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord, and qhe became impatient over the misery of Israel.

A Plea to Return to the Lord

1 vReturn, O Israel, to the Lord your God,
for wyou have stumbled because of your iniquity.
2Take with you words
and return to the Lord;
say to him,
Take away all iniquity;
accept xwhat is good,
and we will pay with bulls
ythe vows
Septuagint, Syriac  pay the fruit
of our lips.
3 aaAssyria shall not save us;
abwe will not ride on horses;
and acwe will say no more, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands.
adIn you the orphan finds mercy.”
