The Greatest Commandment

1“Now this is athe commandment—the statutes and the rules
Or just decrees; also verse 20
that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it,
2that cyou may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and dthat your days may be long. 3Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, eas the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

4Hear, O Israel: fThe Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Or The Lord our God is one Lord; or The Lord is our God, the Lord is one; or The Lord is our God, the Lord alone
5You hshall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6And ithese words that I command you today shall be on your heart.

2 Chronicles 36:15-16

15The Lord, the God of their fathers, jsent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 kBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, ldespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, muntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

Nehemiah 9:29-30

29 nAnd you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet othey acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, pwhich if a person does them, he shall live by them, qand they turned a stubborn shoulder rand stiffened their neck and would not obey. 30Many years syou bore with them tand warned them uby your Spirit through your prophets. vYet they would not give ear. wTherefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

Isaiah 5:4

4 xWhat more was there to do for my vineyard,
that I have not done in it?
yWhen I looked for it to yield grapes,
why did it yield wild grapes?

Isaiah 28:13

13And the word of the Lord will be to them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
line upon line, line upon line,
here a little, there a little,
zthat they may go, and fall backward,
and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Jeremiah 11:7

Jeremiah 25:3-7

3“For twenty-three years, acfrom the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day, the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken adpersistently to you, aebut you have not listened. 4 afYou have neither listened nor inclined your ears to hear, although the Lord agpersistently sent to you all his servants the prophets, 5saying, ahTurn now, every one of you, aifrom his evil way and evil deeds, and ajdwell upon the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers from of old and forever. 6 akDo not go after other gods to serve and worship them, alor provoke me to anger amwith the work of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.’ 7 anYet you have not listened to me, declares the Lord, aothat you might provoke me to anger apwith the work of your hands to your own harm.
