Psalms 50:7-23

7 nHear, O my people, and I will speak;
O Israel, I will testify against you.
oI am God, your God.
8Not for your sacrifices pdo I rebuke you;
your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9I will not accept a bull from your house
or goats from your folds.
10For every beast of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 qI know all the birds of the hills,
and all that moves in the field is mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
rfor the world and its fullness are mine.
13Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
14 sOffer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
Or Make thanksgiving your sacrifice to God

and uperform your vows to the Most High,
15and vcall upon me in the day of trouble;
I will wdeliver you, and you shall xglorify me.”
16 But to the wicked God says:
What right have you to recite my statutes
or take my covenant on your lips?
17 yFor you hate discipline,
zand you cast my words behind you.
18If you see a thief, aayou are pleased with him,
aband you keep company with adulterers.
19 “You give your mouth free rein for evil,
acand your tongue frames deceit.
20You sit and speak against your brother;
you slander your own mother’s son.
21These things you have done, and I adhave been silent;
you thought that I
Or  that the I am
was one like yourself.
But now I afrebuke you and aglay the charge before you.
22 Mark this, then, you who ahforget God,
lest I tear you apart, and there be ainone to deliver!
23The one who ajoffers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
to one who akorders his way rightly
I will show the alsalvation of God!”

Psalms 51:16-17

16 amFor you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it;
you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
17The sacrifices of God are ana broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Isaiah 1:11-20

11 aoWhat to me is the multitude of your sacrifices?
says the Lord;
I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
and the fat of well-fed beasts;
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
or of lambs, or of goats.
12 “When you come to apappear before me,
who has required of you
this trampling of my courts?
13Bring no more vain offerings;
incense is an abomination to me.
aqNew moon and Sabbath and the arcalling of convocations
I cannot endure asiniquity and atsolemn assembly.
14Your aunew moons and your appointed feasts
my soul hates;
they have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15When you avspread out your hands,
I will hide my eyes from you;
aweven though you make many prayers,
I will not listen;
axyour hands are full of blood.
16 ayWash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
azcease to do evil,
17learn to do good;
baseek justice,
correct oppression;
bbbring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow’s cause.
18 Come now, bclet us reason
Or dispute
together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as bewhite as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
19 bfIf you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
20but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be eaten by the sword;
bgfor the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Micah 6:8

8He has told you, O man, what is good;
and bhwhat does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
