A Chosen People

1 “When the ^aLord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, ^bthe Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations ^cmore numerous and mightier than you,

Joshua 10:42

42 And Joshua captured all these kings and their land at one time, ^dbecause the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

Joshua 11:23

23 So Joshua took the whole land, ^eaccording to all that the Lord had spoken to Moses. ^fAnd Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel ^gaccording to their tribal allotments. And the land had rest from war.

Joshua 21:43

43 ^hThus the Lord gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their fathers. And they took possession of it, and they settled there.

Nehemiah 9:22-27

So they ate and were filled ^qand became fat and delighted themselves in ^ryour great goodness.

26 ^s“Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you ^tand cast your law behind their back ^uand killed your prophets, who ^vhad warned them in order to turn them back to you, ^wand they committed great blasphemies. 27 ^xTherefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer. ^yAnd in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them ^zsaviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies.
