Deuteronomy 7:1-2

A Chosen People

1 “When the ^aLord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, ^bthe Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations ^cmore numerous and mightier than you, 2 ^dand when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must ^edevote them to complete destruction. ^{▼▼That is, set apart ( devote) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction)} ^gYou shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them.

Deuteronomy 32:42-43

42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood,
and ^hmy sword shall devour flesh—
with the blood of the slain and the captives,
from the ⁱlong-haired heads of the enemy.’

Isaiah 14:22-23
