13and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, 14 athen your heart be lifted up, and you bforget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,

Haman Plots Against the Jews

1After these things King Ahasuerus ipromoted Haman jthe Agagite, the son of Hammedatha, kand advanced him and set his throne above all the officials who were with him.

Esther 3:5-6

5And when Haman saw that lMordecai did not bow down or pay homage to him, Haman was mfilled with fury. 6But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.

Haman Plans to Hang Mordecai

9And Haman went out that day njoyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai oin the king’s gate, pthat he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai. 10Nevertheless, Haman restrained himself and went home, and he sent and brought his friends and qhis wife Zeresh. 11And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, rthe number of his sons, all the promotions with which sthe king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and the servants of the king.

Job 21:7-15

7 tWhy do the wicked live,
reach old age, and grow mighty in power?
8Their uoffspring are established in their presence,
and their descendants before their eyes.
9Their houses are vsafe from fear,

Ecclesiastes 8:11

11Because aithe sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, ajthe heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.
