17Beware alest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’

Isaiah 10:8

Isaiah 37:23-24

23 “‘Whom have you mocked and reviled?
Against whom have you raised your voice
and lifted your eyes to the heights?
Against cthe Holy One of Israel!
24By your servants you have mocked the Lord,

I have gone up the heights of the mountains,

2 lSon of man, say to mthe prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:

I sit in the seat of the gods,
in the heart of the seas,’
yet pyou are but a man, and no god,
qthough you make your heart like the heart of a god
3 ryou are indeed wiser sthan tDaniel;
no secret is hidden from you;
4by your wisdom and your understanding
uyou have made wealth for yourself,
and have gathered gold and silver
into your treasuries;
5by your great wisdom in your trade
you have increased your wealth,
and vyour heart has become proud in your wealth
6therefore thus says the Lord God:
wBecause you make your heart
like the heart of a god,
7therefore, behold, I will bring xforeigners upon you,
the most ruthless of the nations;
and they shall draw their swords against ythe beauty of your wisdom
and defile zyour splendor.
8 aaThey shall thrust you down into the pit,
aband you shall die the death of the slain
in the heart of the seas.
9 acWill you still say, ‘I am a god,’
in the presence of those who kill you,
though adyou are but a man, and no god,
in the hands of those who slay you?

Ezekiel 29:3

3speak, and say, Thus says the Lord God:

aeBehold, I am against you,
Pharaoh king of Egypt,
afthe great dragon that lies
in the midst of his streams,
agthat says, ‘My Nile is my own;
I made it for myself.’

Daniel 4:30

30and the king answered and said, ah“Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by aimy mighty power as a royal residence and for ajthe glory of my majesty?”

Amos 6:13

13you who rejoice in Lo-debar,
 Lo-debar means nothing

who say, al“Have we not by our own strength
captured Karnaim
 Karnaim means horns (a symbol of strength)
for ourselves?”
