5 Know then in your heart that, ^aas a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.

13 As ^ba father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion ^cto those who fear him.

17 ^dDiscipline your son, and he will give you rest;
he will give delight to your heart.
