a man cannot utter it;
athe eye is not satisfied with seeing,
nor the ear filled with hearing.

Ecclesiastes 1:14

14I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is bvanity
The Hebrew term hebel can refer to a “vapor” or “mere breath” (see note on 1:2)
and a striving after wind.
Or  a feeding on wind; compare Hosea 12:1 (also in Ecclesiastes 1:17; 2:11, 17, 26; 4:4, 6, 16; 6:9)

Ecclesiastes 4:8

8one person who has no other, either son or brother, yet there is no end to all his toil, and his heyes are never satisfied with riches, so that he never asks, i“For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is vanity and an unhappy jbusiness.

They have forsaken the Lord,
they have ldespised mthe Holy One of Israel,
they are utterly nestranged.

Isaiah 61:3

3to grant to those who mourn in Zion
oto give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
pthe oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
qthat they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, rthat he may be glorified.
Or  that he may display his beauty

Isaiah 66:2

2 tAll these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.
uBut this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word.

Micah 6:6-8

What Does the Lord Require?

6 v“With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before wGod on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 xWill the Lord be pleased with
Or  Will the Lord accept
thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
zShall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8He has told you, O man, what is good;
and aawhat does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
Or steadfast love

and to acwalk humbly with your God?

Acts 15:10

10Now, therefore, why adare you putting God to the test aeby placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples afthat neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
