Death Comes to All

1 But all this I laid to heart, examining it all, ^ahow the righteous and the wise and their deeds are ^bin the hand of God. Whether it is love or hate, man does not know; both are before him. 2 ^cIt is the same for all, since ^dthe same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, ^{▼▼Septuagint, Syriac, Vulgate; Hebrew lacks and the evil} to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who ^fswears is as he who shuns an oath. 3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that ^gthe same event happens to all. Also, the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and ^hmadness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

Ezekiel 21:3-4

3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus says the Lord: ⁱBehold, I am against you and will draw ^jmy sword from its sheath and ^kwill cut off from you both righteous and wicked. 4 Because I will cut off from you both righteous and wicked, therefore my sword shall be drawn from its sheath against all flesh from south to north.

Luke 13:2-4

2 And he answered them, ^l“Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you ^mrepent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in ⁿSiloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?
