Ephesians 2

By Grace Through Faith

1 ^aAnd you were ^bdead in the trespasses and sins 2 ^cin which you once walked, following the course of this world, following ^dthe prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in ^ethe sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in ^fthe passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body ^{▼▼Greek flesh} and the mind, and ^hwere by nature ⁱchildren of wrath, like the rest of mankind. ^{▼▼Greek like the rest} 4 But ^{▼▼Or And} God, being ^lrich in mercy, ^mbecause of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even ⁿwhen we were dead in our trespasses, ^omade us alive together with Christ— ^pby grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and ^qseated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable ^rriches of his grace in ^skindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For ^tby grace you have been saved ^uthrough faith. And this is ^vnot your own doing; ^wit is the gift of God, 9 ^xnot a result of works, ^yso that no one may boast. 10 For ^zwe are his workmanship, ^aacreated in Christ Jesus ^abfor good works, ^acwhich God prepared beforehand, ^adthat we should walk in them.

One in Christ

11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called ^aethe circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember ^afthat you were at that time separated from Christ, ^agalienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to ^ahthe covenants of promise, ^aihaving no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were ^ajfar off have been brought near ^akby the blood of Christ. 14 For ^alhe himself is our peace, ^amwho has made us both one and has broken down ^anin his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ^aoordinances, that he might create in himself one ^apnew man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might ^aqreconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and ^arpreached peace to you who were ^asfar off and peace to those who were ^atnear. 18 For ^authrough him we both have ^avaccess in ^awone Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer ^axstrangers and aliens, ^{▼▼Or sojourners} but you are ^azfellow citizens with the saints and ^bamembers of the household of God, 20 ^bbbuilt on the foundation of the ^bcapostles and prophets, ^bdChrist Jesus himself being ^bethe cornerstone, 21 ^bfin whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into ^bga holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him ^bhyou also are being built together ^biinto a dwelling place for God by ^{▼▼Or in} the Spirit.
