In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church; also verses 16, 19
when you meet trials iof various kinds,
3for you know that jthe testing of your faith kproduces steadfastness.

James 1:12

1 Peter 3:14

14 oBut even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. pHave no fear of them, qnor be troubled,

1 Peter 4:16-17

16Yet rif anyone suffers as a sChristian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God tin that name. 17For it is time for judgment uto begin at the household of God; and vif it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who wdo not obey the gospel of God?
