Ephesians 5:19-33

19addressing one another in apsalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 bgiving thanks always and for everything to God the Father cin the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 dsubmitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Wives and Husbands

22 eWives, fsubmit to your own husbands, gas to the Lord. 23For hthe husband is the head of the wife even as iChrist is the head of the church, his body, and is jhimself its Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit kin everything to their husbands.

25 lHusbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and mgave himself up for her, 26that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by nthe washing of water owith the word, 27so pthat he might present the church to himself in splendor, qwithout spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
Or holy and blameless
28In the same way shusbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30because twe are members of his body. 31 uTherefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and vthe two shall become one flesh.” 32This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33However, wlet each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she xrespects her husband.

Ephesians 6:1-9

Children and Parents

1 yChildren, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 zHonor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, aabut bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Bondservants and Masters

5 abBondservants,
Or slaves; also verse 6 (for the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface)
obey your earthly masters
Or  your masters according to the flesh
with fear and trembling, aewith a sincere heart, afas you would Christ,
6not by the way of eye-service, as agpeople-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8 ahknowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, aiwhether he is a bondservant
Or slave (for the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface)
or is free.
9Masters, do the same to them, akand stop your threatening, knowing that alhe who is both their Master
Greek Lord
and yours is in heaven, and that anthere is no partiality with him.
