Queen Vashti’s Refusal

10On the seventh day, awhen the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, bHarbona, cBigtha and Abagtha, Zethar and Carkas, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, 11to bring Queen Vashti before the king with dher royal crown,
Or headdress
in order to show the peoples and the princes her beauty, for she was lovely to look at.
12But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command delivered by the eunuchs. At this the king became enraged, and his anger burned within him.

Isaiah 3:16-26

16 The Lord said:
fBecause gthe daughters of Zion are haughty
and walk with outstretched necks,
glancing wantonly with their eyes,
mincing along as they go,
htinkling with their feet,
17therefore the Lord iwill strike with a scab
the heads of jthe daughters of Zion,
and the Lord will lay bare their secret parts.
18In that day the Lord will take away kthe finery of the anklets, the lheadbands, and the mcrescents; 19the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; 20the nheaddresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; 21the signet rings and onose rings; 22the pfestal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23the mirrors, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils.

24 Instead of qperfume there will be rottenness;
and instead of a rbelt, a rope;
and instead of swell-set hair, tbaldness;
and instead of a rich robe, a uskirt of sackcloth;
and vbranding instead of beauty.
25Your men shall fall by the sword
and your mighty men in battle.
26And wher gates shall lament and mourn;
empty, she shall xsit on the ground.

Daniel 5:2
