Exodus 10:21-23

The Ninth Plague: Darkness

21 Then the Lord said to Moses, ^a“Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be ^bdarkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was pitch darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. 23 They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but ^call the people of Israel had light where they lived.

Exodus 14:24-28

24 And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, 25 clogging ^{▼▼Or binding (compare Samaritan, Septuagint, Syriac); Hebrew removing} their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the ^eLord fights for them against the Egyptians.”

26 Then the Lord said to Moses, ^f“Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” 27 ^gSo Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea ^hreturned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord ⁱthrew ^{▼▼Hebrew shook off} the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The ^kwaters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, ^lnot one of them remained.

Psalms 104:20

20 ^mYou make darkness, and it is night,
when all the beasts of the forest creep about.

Psalms 105:28

28 He ⁿsent darkness, and made the land dark;
they ^odid not rebel ^{▼▼Septuagint, Syriac omit not} against his words.

Isaiah 59:10

10 ^qWe grope for the wall like the blind;
