12For aI will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on ball the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: cI am the Lord.

Exodus 18:21-26

21Moreover, look for dable men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. 22And elet them judge the people at all times. fEvery great matter they shall bring to you, but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you, and they will gbear the burden with you. 23If you do this, God will direct you, you will be hable to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.”

24So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said. 25 iMoses chose able men out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. 26And jthey judged the people at all times. Any hard case they brought to Moses, but any small matter they decided themselves.

Exodus 21:22

22“When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impose on him, and khe shall pay as the ljudges determine.

Exodus 22:8-9

8If the thief is not found, the owner of the house shall come near to God to show whether or not he has put his hand to his neighbor’s property. 9For every breach of trust, whether it is for an ox, for a donkey, for a sheep, for a cloak, or for any kind of lost thing, of which one says, ‘This is it,’ the case of both parties shall come before God. The one whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.

Exodus 22:28

28 m“You shall not revile God, nor ncurse a ruler of your people.

Numbers 25:5-8

5And Moses said to othe judges of Israel, pEach of you kill those of his men who have yoked themselves to Baal of Peor.”

6And behold, one of the people of Israel came and brought a Midianite woman to his family, in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the people of Israel, while they were qweeping in the entrance of the tent of meeting. 7 rWhen Phinehas sthe son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose and left the congregation and took a spear in his hand 8and went after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague on the people of Israel was stopped.

Deuteronomy 1:16

16And I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the cases between your brothers, and tjudge righteously between a man and his brother or the alien who is with him.

Deuteronomy 16:18

Justice

18“You shall appoint ujudges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
