21 And ^athe Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.

Numbers 10:11-13

Israel Leaves Sinai

11 In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, ^bthe cloud lifted from over the tabernacle of the testimony, 12 and the people of Israel ^cset out by stages from the ^dwilderness of Sinai. And the cloud settled down in the ^ewilderness of Paran. 13 They set out for the first time ^fat the command of the Lord by Moses.

Numbers 10:33-36

33 So they set out from ^gthe mount of the Lord three days’ journey. And the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them three days’ journey, to seek out ^ha resting place for them. 34 ⁱAnd the cloud of the Lord was over them by day, whenever they set out from the camp.

35 And whenever the ark set out, Moses said, ^j“Arise, O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate you flee before you.” 36 And when it rested, he said, “Return, O Lord, to the ten thousand thousands of Israel.”

Numbers 19:17-22

17 For the unclean they shall take ^ksome ashes of the burnt sin offering, and fresh ^{▼▼Hebrew living} water shall be added in a vessel. 18 Then a clean person shall take ^mhyssop and dip it in the water and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the furnishings and on the persons who were there and on whoever touched the bone, or the slain or the dead or the grave. 19 And the clean person shall sprinkle it on the unclean ⁿon the third day and on the seventh day. ^oThus on the seventh day he shall cleanse him, and he shall ^pwash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and at evening he shall be clean.

20 “If the man who is unclean does not cleanse himself, ^qthat person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, since he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. Because the water for impurity has not been thrown on him, he is unclean. 21 And it shall be a statute forever for them. The one who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and the one who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening. 22 And ^rwhatever the unclean person touches shall be unclean, and anyone who touches it shall be unclean until evening.”

Nehemiah 9:19

19 you ^sin your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. ^tThe pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, ^unor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

Psalms 78:14
