Exodus 15:24

24 And the people ^agrumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

Exodus 16:2-9

2 And the whole congregation of the people of Israel ^bgrumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness, 3 and the people of Israel said to them, ^c“Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, ^dwhen we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain ^ebread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may ^ftest them, whether they will walk in my law or not. 5 On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, ^git will be twice as much as they gather daily.” 6 So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel, ^h“At evening ⁱyou shall know that it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, 7 and in the morning you shall see the ^jglory of the Lord, because he has heard your grumbling against the Lord. For ^kwhat are we, that you grumble against us?” 8 And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him— ^lwhat are we? Your grumbling is not ^magainst us but against the Lord.”

9 Then Moses ⁿsaid to Aaron, “Say to the whole congregation of the people of Israel, ^o‘Come near before the Lord, for he has heard your grumbling.’”

Exodus 17:2

2 ^pTherefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you ^qtest the Lord?”

Exodus 17:7

7 And he called the name of the place ^rMassah ^{▼▼ Massah means testing} and ^tMeribah, ^{▼▼ Meribah means quarreling} because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”

Exodus 32:6

6 And they rose up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. And ^vthe people sat down to eat and drink and rose up ^wto play.

Baal Worship at Peor

1 While Israel lived in ^xShittim, ^ythe people began to whore with the daughters of Moab. 2 ^zThese invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. 4 And the Lord said to Moses, ^aa“Take all the chiefs of the people and ^abhang ^{▼▼Or impale} them in the sun before the Lord, ^adthat the fierce anger of the Lord may turn away from Israel.” 5 And Moses said to ^aethe judges of Israel, ^af“Each of you kill those of his men who have yoked themselves to Baal of Peor.”

6 And behold, one of the people of Israel came and brought a Midianite woman to his family, in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the people of Israel, while they were ^agweeping in the entrance of the tent of meeting. 7 ^ahWhen Phinehas ^aithe son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose and left the congregation and took a spear in his hand 8 and went after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague on the people of Israel was stopped. 9 Nevertheless, ^ajthose who died by the plague were twenty-four thousand.
