Exodus 17:7

7And he called the name of the place aMassah
 Massah means testing
and cMeribah,
 Meribah means quarreling
because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”

Numbers 20:13

13 eThese are the waters of Meribah,
 Meribah means quarreling
where the people of Israel quarreled with the Lord, and through them he showed himself holy.

Deuteronomy 8:2-3

2And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you gthese forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, htesting you ito know what was in your heart, jwhether you would keep his commandments or not. 3And he humbled you and klet you hunger and lfed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that mman does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word
