Exodus 18:9

9And Jethro rejoiced for all the good that the Lord had done to Israel, in that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians.

Joshua 22:22-33

22“The Mighty One, aGod, the Lord! The Mighty One, God, the Lord! bHe knows; and let Israel itself know! If it was in rebellion or in breach of faith against the Lord, do not spare us today 23for building an altar to turn away from following the Lord. Or if we did so to offer burnt offerings or grain offerings or peace offerings on it, may the Lord himself ctake vengeance. 24No, but we did it from fear that din time to come your children might say to our children, ‘What have you to do with the Lord, the God of Israel? 25For the Lord has made the Jordan a boundary between us and you, you people of Reuben and people of Gad. You have no portion in the Lord.’ So your children might make our children cease to worship the Lord. 26Therefore we said, ‘Let us now build an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice, 27but to be ea witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, that we fdo perform the service of the Lord in his presence with our burnt offerings and sacrifices and peace offerings, so your children will not say to our children in time to come, “You have no portion in the Lord.”’ 28And we thought, ‘If this should be said to us or to our descendants in time to come, we should say, “Behold, the copy of the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifice, but to be ga witness between us and you.”’ 29Far be it from us that we should hrebel against the Lord and turn away this day from following the Lord iby building an altar for burnt offering, grain offering, or sacrifice, other than the altar of the Lord our God that stands before his tabernacle!”

30When jPhinehas the priest and the chiefs of the congregation, the heads of the families of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the people of Reuben and the people of Gad and the people of Manasseh spoke, kit was good in their eyes. 31And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the people of Reuben and the people of Gad and the people of Manasseh, “Today we know that lthe Lord is in our midst, because you have not committed this breach of faith against the Lord. Now you have delivered the people of Israel from the hand of the Lord.”

32Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the chiefs, returned from the people of Reuben and the people of Gad min the land of Gilead to the land of Canaan, to the people of Israel, and brought back word to them. 33And the report nwas good in the eyes of the people of Israel. And the people of Israel oblessed God and spoke no more of making war against them to destroy the land where the people of Reuben and the people of Gad were settled.

Marks of the True Christian

9 pLet love be genuine. qAbhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.

2 Corinthians 7:9-16

9As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but rbecause you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us.

10For sgodly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas tworldly grief produces death. 11For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, uwhat zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter. 12So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one vwho did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God. 13Therefore wwe are comforted.

And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit xhas been refreshed by you all.
14For ywhatever boasts I made to him about you, I was not put to shame. But just as everything we said to you zwas true, so also our boasting before Titus has proved true. 15And his affection for you is even greater, as he remembers aathe obedience of you all, how you received him with fear and trembling. 16I rejoice, because I have complete abconfidence in you.

Philippians 1:4

4always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,

Philippians 1:18

18What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.

To Live Is Christ

Yes, and I will rejoice,

Philippians 2:17-18

17Even if I am to be acpoured out as a drink offering upon adthe sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
