Jethro’s Advice

1 dJethro, ethe priest of Midian, Mosesfather-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt. 2Now Jethro, Mosesfather-in-law, had taken Zipporah, Moseswife, after he had sent her home, 3along with her ftwo sons. The name of the one was Gershom ( gfor he said, h“I have been a sojourner
 Gershom sounds like the Hebrew word for  sojourner
in a foreign land”),
4and the name of the other, Eliezer
 Eliezer means My God is help
(for he said, “The God of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh”).
5Jethro, Mosesfather-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses in the wilderness where he was encamped at the kmountain of God. 6And when he sent word to Moses, “I,
Hebrew; Samaritan, Septuagint, Syriac behold
your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons with her,”

Numbers 10:29

29And Moses said to Hobab the son of mReuel the Midianite, Mosesfather-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, n‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will do good to you, for othe Lord has promised good to Israel.”

Judges 4:11

11Now Heber pthe Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of qHobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in rZaanannim, which is near Kedesh.
