10but the aseventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the bsojourner who is within your gates.

Exodus 31:15

15 cSix days shall work be done, but dthe seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. eWhoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death.

Exodus 35:2-3

2 fSix days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 3 gYou shall kindle no fire in all your dwelling places on the Sabbath day.”

Numbers 15:32-36

A Sabbathbreaker Executed

32While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man hgathering sticks on the Sabbath day. 33And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. 34 iThey put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. 35And the Lord said to Moses, j“The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall kstone him with stones outside the camp.” 36And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Nehemiah 13:15-22

15In those days I saw in Judah people treading winepresses lon the Sabbath, and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them on donkeys, and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of loads, mwhich they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And nI warned them on the day when they sold food. 16Tyrians also, who lived in the city, brought in fish and all kinds of goods and sold them on the Sabbath to the people of Judah, in Jerusalem itself! 17 oThen I confronted the nobles of Judah and said to them, “What is this evil thing that you are doing, pprofaning the Sabbath day? 18 qDid not your fathers act in this way, and did not our God bring all this disaster
The Hebrew word can mean evil, harm, or  disaster, depending on the context
on us and on this city? Now you are bringing more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

19As soon as it sbegan to grow dark at the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and gave orders that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I stationed some of my servants at the gates, that no load might be brought in on the Sabbath day. 20Then the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice. 21 tBut I warned them and said to them, “Why do you lodge outside the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on they did not come on the Sabbath. 22Then I commanded the Levites uthat they should purify themselves and come and guard the gates, to keep the Sabbath day holy. vRemember this also in my favor, O my God, and spare me according to the greatness of your steadfast love.

Isaiah 56:2

2Blessed is the man who does this,
and the son of man who holds it fast,
wwho keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it,
and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

Isaiah 56:4

4For thus says the Lord:
“To the eunuchs xwho keep my Sabbaths,
who choose the things that please me
and hold fast my covenant,

Isaiah 56:6

6 “And ythe foreigners who join themselves to the Lord,
to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord,
and to be his servants,
everyone zwho keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it,
and holds fast my covenant
