24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. ^aIn every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and ^bbless you. 25 ^cIf you make me an altar of stone, ^dyou shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it.

Exodus 24:4-5

4 And ^eMoses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve ^fpillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord.
