4 a“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.Exodus 32:4

5 e“To whom will you liken me and make me equal,and compare me, that we may be alike?
6 fThose who lavish gold from the purse,
and weigh out silver in the scales,
hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god;
gthen they fall down and worship!
Jeremiah 10:4-10
4 hThey decorate it with silver and gold;ithey fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.

for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,

7 oWho would not fear you, O King of the nations?
For this is your due;
for among all the wise ones of the nations
and in all their kingdoms
there is none like you.
8 pThey are both qstupid and foolish;
the instruction of idols is but wood!
9 rBeaten silver is brought from sTarshish,
and gold from tUphaz.
uThey are the work of the craftsman and of the hands of the goldsmith;
their clothing is violet and purple;
vthey are all the work of skilled men.
10 wBut the Lord is the true God;
xhe is the living God and the everlasting King.
At his wrath the earth quakes,
and the nations cannot endure his indignation.
