4 a“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Deuteronomy 4:14-18

Idolatry Forbidden

15 c“Therefore watch yourselves very carefully. Since dyou saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, 16beware elest you act corruptly fby making a carved image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, gthe likeness of male or female, 17the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, 18the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth.

Hosea 8:4-7

The standing grain has no heads;

Hosea 10:5-6

5The inhabitants of Samaria tremble
for zthe calf
Or calves
of abBeth-aven.
Its people mourn for it, and so do its idolatrous priests
those who rejoiced over it and acover its glory
for it has departed
Or  has gone into exile
from them.
6 aeThe thing itself shall be carried to Assyria
as tribute to afthe great king.

Ephraim shall be put to shame,
and Israel shall be ashamed ahof his idol.
