Deuteronomy 4:23-27

23 dTake care, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and emake a carved image, the form of anything that the Lord your God has forbidden you. 24For fthe Lord your God is a consuming fire, ga jealous God.

25When you father children and children’s children, and have grown old in the land, hif you act corruptly by making a carved image in the form of anything, and iby doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, so as to provoke him to anger, 26I jcall heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long in it, but will be utterly destroyed. 27And the Lord kwill scatter you among the peoples, land you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you.

Deuteronomy 29:23-28

23the whole land burned out with brimstone and msalt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, nan overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, oAdmah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and wrath 24all the nations pwill say, qWhy has the Lord done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’ 25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them. 27Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, rbringing upon it all the curses written in this book, 28and the Lord suprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and tcast them into another land, as they are this day.’

Deuteronomy 31:17-18

17Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day, and uI will forsake them and vhide my face from them, and they will be devoured. And many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, w‘Have not these evils come upon us because xour God is not among us?’ 18And I will surely hide my face in that day because of all the evil that they have done, because ythey have turned to other gods.
